Brunch at Zero Zero and Cityscape San Francisco

This weekend I FINALLY got to watch Star Wars and I loved it!!  Does it have its share of plot holes and some really convenient story telling?  Sure!  But I still enjoyed the hell out of it, and the pros totally outweighed the cons.  JJ Abrams you are my hero.  Just fantastic.  I occasionally write about costumes and fashion in film (a career route I almost chose), and I have a feeling I’ll be revisiting this at a later time.

Zero Zero

I had the pleasure of brunching at Zero Zero with friends this weekend and had probably the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life.  I honestly didn’t think pancakes can be fancy but here they are, fancy.

omg.

I can’t even put my fingers on exactly what made it taste so good – maybe it’s the flour they named the restaurant after – 00, a type of finely milled flour commonly used in Italy or Italian recipes.

We were eating at such an odd hour that the restaurant was basically empty and we were able to appreciate the lovely rustic decor.

The experience was overall a positive one besides for the service being a bit hit or miss.  If you’re local or planning on visiting SF, the restaurant is conveniently located close to downtown.  Visit their website for more information.

Downtown and cable cars

This time of year the city is starting to get ready for Lunar New Year’s celebration and the lanterns are up.  Funny enough, now that in SF all bus and taxi lanes are painted an eyesore red (why, SF, why??), the lanterns actually blends right in on Market Street. Continue reading

A Black and White K.I.S.S. - Keeping It Simple, Sister

Happy black Monday, girlfriends!

Feeling recharged?  Enjoy this set of black and white pieces for a monochrome Monday – my favorite type!

It’s seriously my Monday secret / not secret.  Have anything that’s black or white?  Throw it together, slap on some neutral heels or sneakers, whichever balances out the look, and you’re good to go in under 15 minutes.   Look at that, you even have some extra minutes to spare on Instagram.  A few more tips to start your Monday right:

1 – If you bring food or snacks to work, pack them the night before!  This one sounds super obvious but you start binging on Netflix Sunday night and executing it is a whole other story.  As Nike would say, just do it.

2 – This one may not sound like a time saver, but try tidying up your frequented areas to have an organized house to work with come Monday morning.  The bathroom and kitchen counters, the floor space in front of your closet, your hallway or doorway where you keep your keys and anything you grab on your way out.  You’ll thank yourself the next day while rushing and your not knocking over things or looking for your makeup/keys/food/sanity.

3 – If you worked on anything over the weekend that you’ll need to bring in on Monday, remember to pack everything up and have it ready to go next to the door.  Don’t leave it until morning thinking it’ll only take a second to sweep everything off the desk and into your bag.  Respect your overtime by not treating your work as an afterthought.

Hope I helped!  Love or hate the set?  Drop me a line below!  Have a great week peeps.

Out and About – Facebook HQ, Some Stripes, and Good Food

5/16 Lifestyle Round Up of the Poor and Unknown! (that’s me)

I actually had my camera with me this time when I visited my friend at the Facebook HQ, it’s an amazing work space with art, good light, and relaxing work nooks in a welcoming hometown city like setting with touches of modern industrial over at their new campus.  It’s quirky and I love it!

Friday was lovely as I went about some errands down in San Jose and met up with the boy after work for dinner in downtown Stanford.

This Week’s Lifestyle Round Up, 5/8

I gotta say, it’s a relief that this week is finally over.  My boyfriend who works at a hospital basically brought home some hospital grade virus and passed it onto me when he thought he was just having a bout of bad allergies.

I’m finally healing but since I lived in bed for a good few days, the house became a mess and the fridge got stocked with pizza and bread sticks.  Way to heal with some wholesome food eh?  Yup you guessed it, boys are useless.  I ended up on having to skip out of the Vera Wang bridal trunk show at downtown SF which I was so excited about. Oh well, life moves on.

Just these few snaps to share this week, I’m still pretty shy about busting out my camera to try to take photos in public places, especially when I’m alone.  If you’re a fellow blogger, did you ever feel the same way?  How did you work around it?
