Brunch at Zero Zero and Cityscape San Francisco

This weekend I FINALLY got to watch Star Wars and I loved it!!  Does it have its share of plot holes and some really convenient story telling?  Sure!  But I still enjoyed the hell out of it, and the pros totally outweighed the cons.  JJ Abrams you are my hero.  Just fantastic.  I occasionally write about costumes and fashion in film (a career route I almost chose), and I have a feeling I’ll be revisiting this at a later time.

Zero Zero

I had the pleasure of brunching at Zero Zero with friends this weekend and had probably the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life.  I honestly didn’t think pancakes can be fancy but here they are, fancy.

omg.

I can’t even put my fingers on exactly what made it taste so good – maybe it’s the flour they named the restaurant after – 00, a type of finely milled flour commonly used in Italy or Italian recipes.

We were eating at such an odd hour that the restaurant was basically empty and we were able to appreciate the lovely rustic decor.

The experience was overall a positive one besides for the service being a bit hit or miss.  If you’re local or planning on visiting SF, the restaurant is conveniently located close to downtown.  Visit their website for more information.

Downtown and cable cars

This time of year the city is starting to get ready for Lunar New Year’s celebration and the lanterns are up.  Funny enough, now that in SF all bus and taxi lanes are painted an eyesore red (why, SF, why??), the lanterns actually blends right in on Market Street.

I never, ever get sick of shooting the cable cars.  Ever.  Even though I’ve been here for nearly 7 years now they still don’t get old.  They’re so iconic and photograph beautifully, especially when they’re in motion.

I got to sneak a few photos in between the cars leaving, at the Powell/Market intersection.

Fun fact – because it’s so crowded and lively around this area, the loud hum of the running cables just underneath the street gets drowned out.  I used to live just a few blocks up from Market street on Powell while going to school and when they would finally turn the cables off around 2 to 3 am sometimes I’ll wake up from the absolute silence.  I remember the first time this happened I woke up totally disoriented, I had no idea why I was awake until I realized it not what woke me but rather the deafening silence.  I suppose it’s like people who lives close to active train tracks and would have trouble sleeping at night if they’re away from them.

Have you been to SF?  I’d love to hear some of your adventures here if you have!

Happy hump day everyone!

I love the white of your coat against your black outfit! Sounds like you had an amazing time. 🙂 I’ve never been to San Fran, but it’s at the top of my list!
